THE TRUE MEANING BEHIND DOJA

DOJA Clothing defines the role we play in preserving our integrity and saving our jobs as Americans. Tough times throughout the nation have led us to realize our oversight and neglect in the ways we spend our hard earned dollars. Many skilled jobs have been sent overseas, taking the profits of simple business with them, not to mention supporting poor work conditions, child labor, poor regulations and the gross pollution of our earth. All of this simply to cut costs in order to offer a product at a cheaper price to the leading consumers in the world, Americans. We must change the destructive path we have been leading, and redefine our jobs as Americans.
As a consumer it is often hard to find items you're looking for that haven't been made overseas, especially clothing. We all know that imported products just don't have the quality and durability of American made items. This is the integrity we should be proud of as a country and stand behind as consumers, because the bottom line is our jobs, our livelihood and our future. American made products ensure fair labor, better environmental practices, less fuel consumption in transport, quality goods and a brighter future for our children. Bringing the demand back home will automatically help create skilled jobs for our now suffering economy. With a demand for employment also comes education, benefits, local profits and careers that our youth can count on. Buying cheaper, imported brands only furthers our demise which has already cost us in so many ways.
Doja Clothing has invested its dollars in having all our clothing made in the USA, by the loving hands of our families and friends. We even take it one step further and acquire as much organically grown cottons as possible to help promote sustainable farming practices and offer a safer product to our customers. Much of the cotton is even grown here in the Western States. From the planting of the organic cotton, to the eco-friendly screen printing we do by hand here in Santa Cruz, when you purchase something from Doja you know you're helping to leave a cleaner footprint for our nation and a more positive future for our children.

WHERE IT'S GROWN

Currently most of the fabrics we use are grown organically, here in the U.S. The remainder, which we keep to a minimum, is grown overseas. We hope to soon be offering blends of cotton and hemp.

Doja is a strong supporter for the legalization of hemp for industrial use in the United States.  We hope someday to be able to offer American made hemp at an affordable price.  Due to the current laws, hemp cannot be grown within US borders. All hemp on the market today is grown overseas, with the majority coming from China & Canada.  Romania and other former Soviet countries also produce hemp.

WHERE IT'S SEWN

Our ultimate goal is "CA Grown & Sewn". We want to bring jobs (and profits) back home.  We are currently working with other clothing companies who have similar standards to help bring jobs back to the local community. This may take a little while to accomplish. Currently most of our clothing is sewn here in USA and our women's line in California. Quality is number one and we pay a little more to have clothing sewn using quality fabrics and sustainable practices. Doja stands by their clothing so if you ever have any problems with something you purchased, don't hesitate to let us know and we will be sure to take care of the problem. Nothing's perfect, but at least we can try!

ABOUT THE ART

Good style is all about good art! Decorating the clothing is an art in itself. All of our prints are non-toxic and are printed right here in Santa Cruz. We encourage artists to push the envelope of what is possible. Possibilities are unlimited within what we know. Doja looks forward to working with artists throughout California and creating a team of creative thinkers that will give Doja its unique California style. Currently most all designs are created by the owner and founder herself, Jaylyn.

DOING YOUR PART

When you purchase clothing from Doja, you're doing more than upgrading your wardrobe. The textile industry is HUGE, but where the majority of profits go is where we as Americans are at a loss. Because a very small portion of our products (from the fabric to the store) is sourced outside of California, the majority of the profits stay here at home with you and your family. What that means is that your purchase is helping to contribute to the jobs of your fellow Americans, family and friends. There are a lot of jobs involved, from the fields to the store. Doja not only cares about job security but about the environment around the world. So if we're not able to find what we need close to home, we will outsource under conditions of it being produced organically and under fair-trade/labor laws. To look at the bigger picture, we all share the Earth, so we will always be taking our steps in the right direction.
